Andrea E. Hirsch’s Background

A seasoned professional

Andrea E. Hirsch has practiced family law in the District of Columbia and Maryland since 1996. She has extensive experience litigating and negotiating all aspects of family law cases. Trained in mediation and collaborative law as well, she has actively promoted these forms of alternative dispute resolution. While some sharply contested cases must go to court, many other cases can benefit from an alternative procedure that offers privacy, avoids protracted proceedings, and encourages the parties to plan for the future.

Ms. Hirsch has been a leader in collaborative practice in the Washington, DC area. She is a founding member of the Collaborative Dispute Resolution Professionals as well as a founding member of the DC Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is also a member of the Maryland Collaborative Practice Council and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. In 2010, Ms. Hirsch became co-founder and principal of the Collaborative Practice Center of Greater Washington, where she now has her office.

She is a member of the American Bar Association; the Maryland State Bar Association (Family Law Section); the District of Columbia Bar Association (Family Law Section); and the DC Women’s Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in Maryland, District of Columbia and California.

Ms. Hirsch holds a J.D. degree from the Santa Clara University School of Law and a B.A. degree from Stanford University.
